Integrative GP (Introducing Dr Nick Morgan)
We welcome to CK Health our very own Integrative GP. Dr Nick Morgan.
Dr Nicholas Morgan is a GP who has been working as a doctor in the Newcastle area since 2014. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine in 2014 graduating from Newcastle University, and was awarded a distinction in the Diploma of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene in Liverpool, UK in 2018.
He since has become a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners after working as a GP for the last 3 years, in the Newcastle area along with working at Lake Macquarie Private Hospital.
Dr Nick is a member of The Australian College of Nutrition and Environmental Medicine. He is currently completing his ACNEM Fellowship and has recently undertaken further education in naturopathic and environmental medicine courses.
Over the last 2 years, Dr Nick has developed a great passion to approach health care in an integrative way;
- utilising herbal, supplemental, dietary and natural solutions to complement pharmaceutical treatments in managing complex health conditions.
- Informed by an evolving evidence base around how our environments, our nutrition and our lifestyles intersect to influence health.
He has a special interest in myalgic encephalomyelitis / chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, autoimmune diseases, gut health (including dysbiosis, leaky gut, and irritable bowel syndrome), and allergic diseases.
More recently, Dr Nick has been delving into integrative health approaches to assist in the management of Long Covid.
Finding Balance

Dr Nick’s Interests
Nick enjoys a wide range of activities – singing Ed Sheeran’s latest whilst playing keyboard, or picking up the violin to take on a Hungarian Dance (Csardas Monti a favourite), losing to his father in tennis (still!), hitting the ski slopes, watching movies, or reading a good book — from pop philosophy, poetry, or some spiritual literature. A Sydney boy with changed stripes, Nick wholeheartedly loves the Newcastle scene — its cafes, beach walks by the lighthouse, and a run along Bar Beach.

Clinical nutrition
Research shows that what we eat greatly impacts our health, and clinical nutrition utilises food to maintain optimal health and treat illness. Common conditions can often be alleviated with an improved diet, while dietary modifications can be the key to alleviating chronic health problems.
Functional testing
Functional medicine is a way of assessing the body and its function so that imbalances can be corrected, and optimal health restored. Where mainstream medicine often focuses on managing a downstream health complication, a functional medicine approach will journey upstream to find where things have started to go amiss, and look to restore the body’s capabilities to heal itself.
