What is a Salt Room? Also known as Halotherapy or Dry Salt Therapy, it is a chemical free, non-invasive, drug free, 100% natural solution used to ease breathing discomfort related to various respiratory conditions, sinusitis, seasonal allergies, and helps to dampen symptoms related to epidermal and dermatological complications such as psoriasis. Used in Europe since 1843 Salt Therapy involves inhaling fine salt particles dispersed into the room using a special machine. Imagine yourself sitting in a tranquil room with dimmed lighting, relaxation music, salt floors and all you need to do is BREATH and enjoy the atmosphere for 45 minutes!

Benefits of Salt Therapy
Allergies such as hay fever, salt therapy can reduce a build up of airborne allergies with long lasting results. Salt is a natural antihistamine and inhaling it can help alleviate allergies and reduce irritation.
Acute or chronic bronchitis by clearing a build up of mucous salt therapy will help to improve lung function making it easier for you to breathe. After repeated sessions you can expect the inflammation in your respiratory tract to reduce dramatically.
Cystic fibrosis, salt therapy brings relief by opening up the respiratory tract, loosening sticky mucous, and unclogging blockages in the bronchi and bronchioles. Microscopic salt particles also absorb oedema from the mucosa lining, reducing inflammation in the respiratory tract and leaving you less susceptible to infection.
Asthma salt is naturally anti-inflammatory. It will reduce bronchospasm by improving bronchial secretions and widening airways. Salt can also help remove common asthma trigger’s such as pollen.
Ear infections, salt particles reduce swelling caused by fluid in the eustachian tubes, and promote better drainage behind the eardrum.
Cold and flu, opening of the nasal airways, activates sinus drainage, kills bacteria and decongests your chest by speeding up the clearance of mucous. Coughing and sneezing reduce as a result and the duration of the cold or flu is shortened.
Dermatitis (including eczema, psoriasis and contact dermatitis), microscopic salt particles are infused into the air and absorbed by your skin. These work to kill fungus and bacteria and decrease inflammation. It is a perfect therapy for children and babies with skin problems.
Emphysema, tiny salt particles absorb fluid from the mucosa lining in the lungs and airways, this reduces inflammation and mucous build up making breathing more comfortable.
Sinusitis, Symptoms are eased by opening blockages, clearing away excessive mucous and reducing inflammation in the sinus and airways. Salt is naturally antibacterial and anti fungal so the chances of an infection are reduced. If you are a chronic sufferer of sinusitis, regular salt sessions may drastically reduce your need for prescription medications.
Other conditions salt naturally produces negative ions, these ions can reduce stress, headaches, fatigue, anxiety and depression.
Are there any known side effects? There are no known side effects to Salt Therapy, it is a natural way to provide relief, for both adults and children.
Can I stop using medication during salt therapy? Salt therapy is a complementary treatment and not designed to replace your medications. Always follow your doctor’s advice.
Is salt therapy safe for children and babies? Yes. Babies as young as 6 months can benefit and respond quickly and effectively. Children are more prone to respiratory problems such as croup and salt therapy can be a beneficial activity to relieve symptoms.
Is salt therapy safe for pregnant women? Salt therapy is a great choice for women who do not want to take over-the-counter or prescribed medication for allergies, sinusitis, asthma, and other respiratory illnesses. The only exception is women in the third trimester of pregnancy who are suffering from Oedema, they should consult a Doctor before salt therapy.
How many sessions will I need? This depends greatly on your condition. For a simple cough, cold or flu you may only require 2-3 sessions. For chronic respiratory and dermatological conditions such as sinusitis, allergies, asthma, bronchitis, psoriasis, completing 10 to 30 sessions all within a short a time period will prove to be most effective. For minor conditions you may feel some improvement after one session, but a series of treatments is best if you are wanting lasting results.
