Psychologist Newcastle
If you’re human, psychology can help you.
Psychology
Psychology is the scientific study of the human mind. Psychologists are dedicated to understanding how people think, feel, behave and learn.
Here at CK Health, we take a compassionate, holistic approach to health – and we know that your mental health is an important piece of the puzzle.
We are passionate about supporting our clients’ healing on a mind, body and soul level – so, to help build your strength and resilience when you need a bit of extra support, we have fully qualified registered psychologists here in our team at the CK Health Wellness Clinic Newcastle.
Our psychologists can provide both in house face to face services as well as online Telehealth services. Please enquire when making your booking.
Mind-Body Health
At CK Health, we believe that taking a holistic approach to your healing and wellness can be incredibly powerful. Psychologists study neuroscience and can help you understand why you think, feel and act the way you do, and foster more sustainable behaviours so you can build a better life for yourself.
“The good life is a process, not a state of being.”
– Carl Rogers
Can seeing a psychologist benefit me?
Everyone experiences difficult stages in life. Recognising that you are struggling is the first step towards changing your life. Whether you are experiencing a mental health condition such as anxiety or depression, or you are seeking to build some extra resilience through challenging times, talking with a professional can help you know that you are not alone.
If you’re feeling like you are not coping, or just that you are not quite yourself, or if you have had a diagnosis of a condition, or have experienced some big changes in your life, then a psychologist can be invaluable support.
One of the tools our Newcastle Psychologists use is EDMR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing).
This therapy is fast becoming the leading evidence-based therapy used in psychology today.
It is renowned for its efficacy in alleviating trauma (PTSD), OCD, anxiety and stress, offering a unique pathway to mental resilience and recovery.
EMDR helps to quieten down the nervous system and make sense of overwhelming experiences. It does this by facilitating communication among the brain regions responsible for our alarm system (fight, flight, freeze), our memory, and our higher-order cognitive functions.
With your EMDR psychologist they will use this technique to reduce the vividness of traumatic memories, turn down the volume on the distress attached to these events, and safely store traumatic memories from the past.
